Winterim

Winterim (Winter Interim) is an innovative curricular feature started at Wheaton Academy in 1991. Winterim has become an enormously valuable and popular component of the Wheaton Academy education, and we are thrilled to have this be the 5th year of SCS’s Winterim tradition. Students have the unique opportunity to literally travel around the world through a variety of educational and mission trips and take courses on campus that they normally wouldn’t be exposed to. In addition, as juniors and seniors, SCS students have the rare opportunity to experience first hand a profession (through work internships around the world) before deciding on a college or major. Winterim truly means opportunities for Statesville Christian School students.

The Winterim course offerings have included the following:  The A,B,C’s and 1,2,3’s of Teaching, Foundations in Personal Finance, Outdoor Skills and Campcraft, Horticulture and Landscape Design, Dalton’s Danties, Drivers Education, Film Critic, Lifeguard Certification and a trip to the Creation Museum.  There have been Basketball Mission Trips to Florida, Mission Trips to China, and day trips to the North Carolina mountains for students to learn to ski.

During our Winterim Program, students have been able to receive hands-on experience in the following career fields:  Education, ATV Mechanic, Dentist/Orthodontist, Airplane Mechanic, Business Accounting, Law Enforcement, Physical Therapy, Pediatrics, Pharmacy, Speech Therapy, Interior Design, Orthopedics and Photography.
