As I walk around the “rectangle” each day I see learning taking place.  Hey, that’s a good thing!  What I see is many different kinds of learning taking place.

  •  Jr. Kindergarteners are our prayer warriors.  They lift any and everything up to the Lord in prayer.
  •  Kindergarteners are recognizing words and already reading.
  • 1st grade is full of life, but is maturing with each and every day.
  • 2nd grade has learned good behavior and enjoys anything you do with them.  They give their all.
  • 3rd grade is imaginative and creative.
  • 4th grade uses their talents to create scenery and their voices to share a puppet show with elementary students.
  • 5th grade is rising to the challenge of new curriculum and collaborating to think outside the box.

SCS elementary is a fun day every day.  Share with your friends and encourage them to come see what we have to offer.

State of the School Meeting – November 1st– This is one of only a few times we ask all of our  SCS parents to meet together each year.  Please mark your calendar now as we request that each family has at least one parent represented at this meeting.   In addition to a brief “state of the school” address by Dr.  Mroczek and Board Chairman Richard Todd, you will enjoy student presentations and fellowship with other  SCS parents and staff members.   As in the past, childcare for children aged JrK-5th grade will be available on-site.   Information regarding childcare reservations will be provided to elementary parents through the elementary “Friday Folders” as the meeting time draws near.

Varsity Football at  SCS!!!  We are pleased to announce a partnership between the Lake Norman Storm football team and Statesville Christian School.  This team is a member of the Pioneer League, which emphasizes the development of “biblical character traits such as self-control, selflessness, perseverance, sportsmanship, self sacrifice and teamwork…”  The Lake Norman team has a varsity program for students aged 15-18, and will be making our field their home field.  We will be evaluating how this season and our partnership goes.   If all goes well, we will invite the Lake Norman Storm back for the 2012-2013 year.  You may access the schedule of games at The Lake Norman Storm website

Most of you are well aware of our ties with Western Avenue Baptist Church ( WABC) as they graciously host our elementary classes and provide space for many of our school events.    We appreciate the relationship we have built through the years with  WABC.   We wanted to make our parents aware of a professional service available through the programs at  WABC.  The church has a counseling center providing individual, couples, and family therapy by licensed professional counselors.   Should members of your family ever need to take advantage of such services, you may contact the counseling center at 704-873-6397 or get more information at by emailing WABC.

Smiley Faces! smiley  What a blessing each day to see the smiling faces of our little people.  Granted…we all have days when we are out of sorts…but for the most part…smiles are abundant in elementary.  Students have gotten the hang of it.  They know where to go, how to go, and what’s to be accomplished when they get there.  It’s amazing how much they have already grown this year.

We’ve been blessed with two new students since school started.  Austin Settle is in 4thgrade and Ashton  Lentz is in Jr. K.  Please give these families a wonderful  SCS welcome.

Coming up in September:

  • 9/20:  Student Council officers:   speeches and elections
  • 9/21:  Progress Reports will go home
  • 9/27-9/29:  Comprehensive Testing Program ( CTP4) will be given

September is a month to notice God’s creativity.  Enjoy the cooler weather, look at the beautiful leaves, and embrace the fact that we have the opportunity to serve an awesome God!
